Big Four accountancy firm PwC has lost its third big audit client within days after Berkeley Homes said it was switching to KPMG. The housebuilder, which has been audited by PwC for 30 years, said it put the contract up for tender as part of 'evolving best practice'. PwC's audit work for Berkeley is under investigation by the accountancy watchdog the Financial Reporting Council. The probe is understood to be into the role of Glyn Barker, a former PwC partner who became a non-executive on Berkeley's board. The FRC said yesterday it had dropped an inquiry into PwC's preparation of compliance reports for Barclays Capital Securities.
